Becoming Catholic
The journey of discipleship — explore the beauty, truth, and fullness of the Catholic faith through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
Watch Fr. Mike Schmitz share his perspective on the faith and explain why he loves being Catholic:
What is OCIA?
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly known as RCIA) is the process established by the Church for welcoming adults into the Catholic faith. It is a journey of discernment, study, and spiritual growth, where you walk alongside the faith community toward receiving the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil.
Who is this process for?
Unbaptized Adults
Individuals who have never been baptized and wish to be fully initiated into the Christian and Catholic faith.
Baptized Christians
Christians baptized in another Christian tradition who seek full communion with the Catholic Church.
Catholics completing initiation
Adult Catholics who were baptized but have not yet received the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.
The Four Stages of the Journey
Inquiry (Pre-Catechumenate)
An informal time to ask questions, explore Catholic beliefs, and discern God's call with no formal commitment.
The Catechumenate
A period of deeper formation in the truths of the faith, prayer, liturgical life, and service within the parish community.
Purification & Enlightenment
Coinciding with Lent, this is a time of intense spiritual preparation, prayer, and reflection focused on conversion of heart.
Mystagogy
The time following the reception of the sacraments at Easter. New Catholics (neophytes) continue growing in fellowship and faith.

Schedule & Registration
The OCIA program is offered at our parish in both English and Spanish. Classes typically begin in late September.
Meeting Location
