(828) 464-9207
at any time and leave a request. Father will be happy to come and visit you.
If you or a loved one is in sudden danger of death, please call the parish office immediately and follow the prompts for “sacramental emergency.”
If you or a family member is elderly and approaching death, please call regarding sacramental preparation for death. Father will be happy to visit to prepare the person for a good confession, as well as answer any questions that the family might have regarding end-of-life decisions and the Mass of Christian Burial.
In the Catholic Church, Extreme Unction or the Last Rites is the anointing at the time of death. Since the Second Vatican Council, this sacrament is now called the Anointing of the Sick and has been broadened to offer healing and comfort in times of illness that may not lead to immediate death. Speaking about a wider implementation of this sacrament, Pope Paul VI advocated for “a wider availability of the sacrament and to extend it—within reasonable limits—even beyond cases of mortal illness.”
The healing in this sacrament of anointing is not necessarily physical healing. While we believe that physical healing can occur through the great power of God, the grace that is infused through this special sacrament is the reminder of the eternal presence of God in our human suffering.
Guided by the example of St. Joseph, we are a welcoming parish dedicated to living the Gospel and sharing Christ’s love with all.
Through the sacraments, faith formation, and outreach, we seek to grow as disciples and be a source of hope and light to others.
Whether you are a lifelong Catholic, new to the faith, or searching for a spiritual home, we invite you to join us and experience the joy of belonging to a caring, faith-filled family.
